Is there anyway to get a copy of an old application from Canadian immigration? i need to get addresses from it to apply for new papers

You can apply for caips/GCMS notes under the Privacy Act(free if you currently reside in Canada). http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563E.pdf

If you are not in Canada, you can request it under the Access to Information Act - it costs $5 and you need to have someone physically present in Canada like a Canadian citizen, holder of a work/study permit or permanent resident to request it on your behalf. So you will fill out form http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563E.pdf
and http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5475E.pdf in addition to

In the future, keep a copy of your complete application.

The CAIPS notes that I have seen do not go to the level of detail you are looking for. They are brief and record the VO's comments, but certainly don't include your application details. Try to think of some other way to get the addresses.

If you request caips/GCMS notes for the permanence residence application it will be sent along with a copy of the full application. That's what they sent me. It takes forever though, over 2 months and is detailed...everything except results of security checks.
