Hi all,

Please help me clarify my question.

I applied for an Open Work Permit and realised that I will not be eligible, and sent in a withdrawal letter after that. The withdrawal letter was received about 2 weeks after they received my Open Work Permit.

The contents of my withdrawal letter were:

1. Letter of withdrawal (stated reasons, UCI, name, and date of application sent)

2. Copy of payment receipt

I called CIC before and asked if they received my withdrawal letter, the representative said yes. But how come they still sent me a refusal letter after they received my withdrawal letter? I really don't understand. The processing times listed on the CIC website hasn't even reach the date when they received my application yet.

I am preparing myself for my PR application. Will this refusal post any bad marks on my application?

Please advise.

Thank you.

No, the refusal won't affect your PR application. But remember, you have to answer "Yes" to the question that asks if you have ever been denied any type of visa to Canada. If you don't, you may find yourself in trouble for misrepresentation.
