Hi guys! I have a quick question. I'm working on my Application to Extend Visitors Status so I can stay in Canada with my husband while our application for Permanent Residence is processed. We have already received approval for him to be my sponsor. When it requests a letter from my sponsor saying that he will support me, what should we include in that letter? Also, does it require his signature (should I scan a letter he has signed)? And what should I say are the available funds to support me while I'm here and pay for my travel home (if necessary)?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

You are applying outland?
The letter you mention is for your extension?

The letter from you sponsor can be a copy, so you could scan the signature - mine was, and my first extension application was granted.
Include details of how he will support you.
Tell the truth about the available funds and money available for the trip home.

Thanks, Baloo. Yes, we're applying outland. We received our sponsorship approval last friday, and our application has been forwarded to Buffalo. And, yes, the letter of support is for my extension. If I just get a letter saying that my husband is able/willing to sponsor me and have him sign it, will that be enough? I'm also thinking of sending the letter from his company that we received for our residency application, his tax letter (we didn't make a copy of the Option C form), a copy of our marriage certificate, and a copy of his sponsorship approval letter. Would that be adequate?

Thanks for the advice!

I would send proof that you submitted the PR app (your receipt, the letter that says sponsorship was approved, etc), the copy of the marriage certificate, some sort of proof of funds, and a note saying he will support you. Good luck!

All of these are good items of supporting evidence.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I'm off to scan the documents now, and I'll be submitting my application this afternoon.

If you are posting the application, make sure you send it with a proof of delivery (signature).

And if you do it online, you can save and/or print the page that confirms the receipt (time and date) of your application as your proof of when they received your application.

Thank you for the help, guys!

I submitted a letter of support from my husband, a copy of the employment letter we received for our residency application, part of his notice of assessment, our marriage certificate, our PR receipt, and the sponsorship approval letter we received last week.

I printed out several copies of the receipt, as well as the confirmation page that followed it. :)

Crossing my fingers that this will be the last time I'll have to fill out CIC paperwork for a loonnngggg time.

Thanks again!
