Hi!
I have checked my student visa application's status via Application status tracker and it states:

Expiry date:
Sep 01, 2024

My passport is on the way to be stamped. My program starts on Jan 2024, but I will most probably defer to Sep 2024 intake. Does it mean that I need to enter Canada before SP expires, i.e Sep 01, 2024?

Thank you!

A SP expiry date is usually the latter of your PP expiry date or 3 months after your program ends. When does your PP expire?

I dont understand why duration of SP is less than my passport's expiration or program's lenght + potential 90 days :(
What do I do? Apply for SP extension?

@Fabian_Kittle thank you!
Shall I extend my SP once I land in Canada before Sep 1, 2024?

Also what if I have SOWP tied to my study permit? What duration will SOWP get if I apply after getting SP with expiry date in September 24?

@Naturgrl it is not possible to extend the SP before I enter Canada right?
I am thinking of deferement to Sep 24 intake as my son's visa is getting delayed :(
Can I land in Canada in June 24 and extend my SP before I start any studies ?

I am so tensed with the fact that I was given SP with such a short period :(
Apart from that my son's visa doesnt want to be out as IRCC is about to request additional docs for him. I mean he is just 2.5 yrs old, what additional docs he might be asked for :(
I really dont know what to do with this short SP. I think I cant extend it from my home country as I need a valid SP in my hands which I can get only if I land in Canada. On the other hand, what if I wont get the extension? I come there with a little baby not knowing whether I get the extension :(
Sorry I annoy you in this forum, but I desperately need your advise :( @Naturgrl

If your program starts in January 2024 then IRCC has given you a permit until September so I don’t see the issue. It is very common for IRCC to do this. You extend in July after your first semester. You cannot extend it outside Canada. You will get an extension if you are showing that you are attending class, not failing, paying fees etc.

If you are deferring then you need a new LOA to update your file. If you don’t permit may be cancelled. So you enter in August and extend when you get to Canada.

Your son’s TRV is processed separately from your study permit. ADR may be to show that you are returning or if a spouse is remaining in home country. Or that you have secured day care with the funds to pay for a year on top of your tuition and living expenses. TRV is not guaranteed.
