Hey Guys,

I mailed my application to Sydney, Canada on May 29th (FSW category). I called my bank to find out whether bank draft is en-cashed or not. They told me that the draft is NOT en-cashed. Today is June 24th, does this mean my application is rejected :( as its almost 1 month now. is there any way to find out the status?

Thanks,

Hi, it is not an indicator of your acceptance or rejection. Wait it out a bit more. Good luck.

what I have seen in this forum is that people get reply within 5 weeks maximum. Since its almost 4 weeks and the bank draft is not en-cashed, I am slightly worried now.

I also have my ielts this weekend. hope i don't get the rejection else i wasted all my money on IETLS and police certificates.

damn it, I should have waited first for the reply from canada and then applied for IELTS and police certificates. my bad :(

Hi again,

I got my 120-day letter from Sydney (AOR) after 6 weeks, some get it even longer than that. For all we know, Sydney is swamped with applications from all over the world. If you are in the list of eligible applicants, there should be nothing to worry about.

When your 120-day letter arrives, you will be glad that you started working on getting your IELTS and police certifs early.

Take it easy. Regards.

I suggest you also check with trackitt.com to see how long others have to wait to get their approvals every step of the PR application process. It eases up my wait a bit to see that others have waited even longer than myself.

i tried to add my case on trackit.com but it needs "App Filed at Local Canadian Visa Office"

well, in fact I haven't yet received the reply from Canada before i can file to local canadian office ;)

No it is impossible to be rejected yet (there is a difference between being rejected and getting back the entire package including your fees), because in order to get rejected your application must be reviewed at first, this means that they open your application at first and check the completeness of forms and information (blanks) and the payment fees at this stage if they find any missing documents or information, they will send you back the entire package including your money order without being cashed. if your documents are complete, they will cash your money order and review your application to make sure whether you are eligible under the new rules or not, if not they send you only a letter of refusal (not the entire pacake) explaining the reasons and informing you that your fees will be refundable.

Therefore, as long as you still see that they haven't cashed your money order yet, you are not rejected but your application might(not must)be in its way back to you because of the missing of any documents or information to fix it and send it back.

Finally, it might be just an administrative procedures because they put applications in the queue to start processing upon the scheduled date of reciept.

hmmm... i'll try to call bank after 2 weeks and find out again what's going on...
there should be some way to call canadian office to find out...but i guess they might be receiving millions of application everyday...

anyways, fingers crossed and will check back later after 2 weeks... hope for the best ;)
already spend $170 on IELTS and $86 on police certificates. hope its not wasted ;)

thanks everyone!!

perlperl,

i the DD is not cashed yet, there could be 3 reasons

1) they have probably not started looking at your application
2) they looked at your application and found something wrong in it and ent the whole package back by return mail. They send by regular post, so it is upto the efficiency of your local post to get your package back.
3) they have not received your package.

Out of these, you can check point 3, but will not have any control on the other 2 except for waiting.

Even in case of rejection, CIC would cash your DD and issue a fresh cheque to you along with the rejection letter. So, not being cashed is not bad news. Just that, it's a wait!!!
