Application Status/ Family class Sponsorship

Hi everyone,

So, recently, I have turned in my complete application. (A couple weeks ago.)
I keep checking to see when it is updated that it has been received.

However, I am a little confused. I know the assessment of a sponsor is updated weekly.
I also know that it takes about 90 days when they begin the assessment of a sponsor. (They're working on applications from November 2014.)

Does that mean in approximately 90 days from now I can view the status of my application online?

Right now when I try and check my "application status" nothing shows up, and says they cannot retrieve my application.

Please advise.

that's because your application hasn't been opened or processed yet. generally, people can't view their status online until AFTER sponsor approval has been given. those who can most likely have sent a previous applicaiton to CIC for some other purpose. ECAS (the online system) is not useful for determining what's currently going on with your application. generally, any information that is updated in ECAS is done AFTER the sponsor/applicant has already been contacted by CIC.

Also, receipt numbers will not work on ECAS, only UCI#s and a file number will work. these are not issued until CIC contacts the sponsor and/or applicant. At this point, all you can do is wait for your application to start processing and hear from cic. more likely than not, you will not be able to sign in until AFTER you are notified of sponsor eligibility. currently CIC is processing November applications, so you have some time to wait.

yes, get out of that habit. even when you can sign into ecas, it is not advised to do so. a majority of the process will be in silence, and any updates will be done AFTER the sponsor/applicant knows about it. obsessively checking will only result in disappointment. good luck with your process!
