Happy to say that I sent our application off today! Woo hoo!

What can I expect to happen next?! Will the CIC write to me to confirm receipt or will I hear nothing until they've processed everything and made their decision?

You may or may not get an acknowledgment of receipt from Mississauga for stage 1, so the first thing you might hear is your sponsor approval, in about 90 days.

Hi

If you don't hear any thing in 90 days, I suggest you should call the call centre. Make sure your eyes glued to your email. It's just a waiting game. Good luck

Thanks. I am wondering if they will contact me sooner than 90 days. If everything is fine, I assume the next time I hear from them will be to tell me that my application has been approved, right?

Next time you hear something it probably will be stage 1 approval.
All you have to do is wait and do as CIC says.
Follow the thread with applications at the same month as you.
Good luck :D

If processing times go down, then yes, you might hear from them sooner. The posted timeline does seem to be fairly accurate for stage 1.

After sponsor approval, you might get AOR from your VO (some offices don't send AOR, some do), and if everything is in order, then the next you'll hear is either a passport request (either copies or the original, depending on your passport, and the VO), possibly a photo request, or you might just get the COPR in the mail without any warning.
