Hi Guys,
I am very upset today as my application has been returned. I filled every form by asking CIC call centre.
My concerned was me and my common law partner both were eligible, so we applied individually. Now, my file has been returned saying I have not paid full fees and not submitted photos of my common law partner.

But I have put the letter in front of application stating that as we both are eligible under CEC, we are applying individually. Please help what should we do now???
Any help would be much appreciated

Should we apply individually or file a single application?
What if they would doubt on our common law status or something?

Here's how it works. If you want to send two applications, you can. However, both applications have to be complete. Therefore, since you are declaring a spouse on both of them, you have to pay for both people on both applications. You also have to include forms for dependents on both applications, including photographs, identity documents, police certificates, and everything else. Therefore, everything has to be double and duplicated. You cannot just apply separately and not declare your spouse. When one of the applications reaches completion, CIC will email you and ask you to withdraw the other one.

What you may want to do is decide on who is more likely to get PR approved, and then just go with that person as the principal applicant. May save you time, especially if you need to get duplicate police certificates

I said spouse in my response. The same applies for common law partner.

Sorry to hear that abirdie. I hope you'll find a way to make it work.

May I ask when you applied? And did you just receive the package back in the mail or did they send you an email?

This is the right advice.

abirdie - Unfortunately you didn't follow the process and that's why your application has been returned. If you have a common law partner, you cannot apply individually. You must include your common law partner in the application.
