Hello,
We applied last year for our CEC and everything was just waiting, now there has been 12 months since that and no response plus our WP is about to expire next month. Should we be able to ask for an extention or maybe contact the office to see what is happening? I know the average is 13 months for process but I am stating to get nervous about it, anybody with a similar experience here?

Any info would be gratefully received :)

well first off all you can applie for BOWP. And the reson for deley could be if your file is on second review. You can apply for GCMS note and it will take about month to come but then you will have an idea what exetly going on to your file. My status is still application recived. I applied on march 28 2014. And its been 13.5 month. But i got my MR and RPRF on may 15 2015 after second review.
i hope this will help

Folks, get it in your heads that 13 months or 12 months is NOT the AVERAGE processing time. CIC states that for the 2013/24 period, 80% of "complete applications" on receipt were took 12 months to process. The average could be much much higher depending on how long it too to process the rest of the 20%.

OMG, thank you so much!!! I will do what you suggest. I just wasn't sure if we could apply for the BOWP and I was quite worried about this. Thanks again :D

Guess we have to be patient then, which I have no problem. I already knew this was a very long process, still it is always nice to hear others with similar experiences. In my case most of my friends that applied for their PR they were done in less than a year, so there I was wondering if maybe something was wrong with the application and getting mixed advice about contacting or not the offices. Thanks for replying, I will focus on applying for the BOWP <3

It is very sad that applicants don't really know what is happening with their applications ............ what else can I say. CIC does not even tell applicants about the GCMS notes, people find that on forums like this and it appears that is the defacto method of learning about what is happening with someone's case.

I know, quite frustrating if you ask me. I know several people that had applications refused because they didn't quite understand the process. I guess it is quite a miracle me and my hubby managed to stay here for so long and with no help. Thanks again for helping a pair of tortured souls to feel at peace :p

Make sure you folks apply for your BOWP and WP respectively jus before the 4 months of expiry.
