Hi.... So I have finally been granted my work permit and arrived in Canada a week ago. Can anyone please offer some advice and info on how to go about applying for permanent residency.

Thanks

Patrick

You're going to have to provide more information if you want a specific answer. What is the job/occupation? Which province? Having a job in Canada doesn't automatically mean you qualify to apply for PR.

Without further information, I think the most that can be suggested is that you read up on Canada's various immigration programs to see if you qualify to apply through any:

From your older posts, I see that you are a long haul truck driver and you are in BC. If that is the case, you are semi-skilled which means that most immigration options are off limits. However, you could apply under BC PNP after having worked for 9 months, see http://www.welcomebc.ca/new_pnp/About-the-BC-PNP/Skills-Immigration/Entry-Level-or-Semi-skilled.aspx

Thanks for the info. I will look into this so that i can be prepared when the time comes to apply.

The most important thing for you right now is to be a model employee because you will need your employer to support your application for PR when the time comes.
