Hi there,

I would like to apply to the Grandparents and Parents Immigration Program this year but I don't obtain the last 3 years' income requirements except the previous year's. I know that they are selecting people who applied 3 years ago (2020). I am guessing that if I apply this year, I am hoping that I will be selected in 2025. So my question is that, if I will be selected in 2025, then do I need to provide notice of assessment for (2024,2023, and 2022) or do I still need to provide notice of assessment for (2022,2021, and 2020) because I have applied in 2023? Thanks.

You should not apply this year. You need to wait until you meet the income requirements.

Most likely you will need to show income for 2024, 2023 and 2022 only if you are selected in 2025. But we can't say for certain until the rules are released.

What you described is that you are trying to "game" the system and hoping that by the time they pick and ask you to apply, you would have meet the LICO in the future.
What if they pick you in 2023, then you won't be able to apply and lost your chance.

@Glaucus Narcissus

They may actually verify people’s income or require them to declare their exact income from their NOA for each year on the application this year to prevent people who don’t qualify from attempting to apply. Given that we have no idea what the program will look like this year there is no point in trying to start gaming the system. They could easily change the system or not open up a new EOI so people will just have to wait.
