Hi all!

After hearing from a few wonderful users out there, my common-law partner and I are looking to change our application from inland to outland (he's American). We're of course deciding to do this at the last possible minute and we just paid the fees for the inland application yesterday.

Does anyone have experience in getting a refund from the CIC? Or could we exchange the inland funds and have them transferred to outland funds? I think the cost is the same...

Has anyone heard of this being successful? Or do you know how one would go about doing this?

Thank you!

You would be better off requesting a refund and start over again. I say this because their is a number attached to it to match up to your file. You have changed the forms for outland yes?

We're filling out the outland forms tonight. We have all of our evidence organized (about 400+ pages of it) and ready to go.

I'm just not sure HOW to go about obtaining a refund. I tried calling the 1-888 number, but it's always busy and my call gets dropped. Such a nightmare!

Thanks for any guidance!

I am 99.9% positive that if you file your application packet using outland forms, then even if you paid inland fees they can be tracked back when they receive your packet. Include your receipt for payment with your application and if they have issues with it, they will refund your monies and ask you for the fee again, but the fees are exactly the same whether you do an inland or outland application.

Good luck

are you calling from inside or outside canada? the number only works inside canada. :(

my husband usually gets through around lunch time... longest he's waited has been 30 min.

I'm in Canada, in Vancouver. I tried this afternoon about 10 times in a row, but after pushing what seems like a million different touch-tones, I finally get to a message that tells me they're experiencing high call volumes (surprise, surprise) and then it just disconnects. Horribly frustrating that I can't even wait on hold!

I'm feeling a bit concerned about submitting the receipt for the wrong application as a gamble (even if the amount is the same)...

I can't wait to put this application in the mail!

Thank you, everyone!

I would go back and have a look at paying fees and see if you had to check any boxes , inland- outland . You can get a refund on line , but honestly if you just paid it , its going to take some time for a refund. If it just says fees for sponsorship , application and RRPF then i wouldn't worry .
