hello i just like to ask if anyone here asked for there mp's help from richmond or vancouver, can anyone pls share ur experience about that, we called them 2 weeks ago, then we call them again yesterday and they said the canadian embassy is not yet replying, how long should we usually wait before we get the answer. :)

Immigration and citizenship are bound by law to answer your MP in a couple of days (2-5) at most. you need to speak to them and remind them about that.

we actually call today its bee two weeks were waiting and they said theres no reply yet, is that normal?mp is from richmond

No experience, but today I tried calling the mp office but just got an answering machine. I will drive to the office tomorrow if I don't get a call back soon.

My MP (Ontario) told me it's been taking them 3 weeks to hear back from Immigration.

There was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago. The applicant heard back from their MP's office in just a few days. It however, did not affect their application, but at least they knew that things were still coming along. If our application hits any roadblock I will definitely contact my MP. I actually know him personally and I think he would be interested to hear our case. (if something goes wrong). Anyway, it can't hurt. Just don't be pushy and expect them to speed anything up for you.

i gues it depends on the mp? cos some of my friends from winipeg got reply within 5 days, our mp is from richmond im in to 3rd week now of waiting for there reply :'(

The MP's get a response back within 2 days. I got a response back from the last MP in 2 days exactly.

But for the newly appointed MP it has been 3 weeks because they did not get my email from 4 weeks ago and the call information i sent them about two weeks ago because their constituency office was not set up yet. It is usually supposed to take them 2 days or 3 maximum.

Then finally when I called again they asked me to fill up a form for release of information in order to get information from the Embassy on my behalf. I find that now.

However I find that strange because I was not asked to fill anything last time and MP was able to just get the information based on File number DOB and Name. Did any of you also have to fill up this form for your MP?

i asked a question re: my wife's file the MP got back to me with in a few days. I emailed his office both in Ottawa and the local one. I was told at my interview ( i asked the question) items like this do not slow down you application

Well I got a call back from the MP's office and she said she would inquire, but that often, if the application is still within "normal" processing times, the office processing the application won't say much about it. Technically, I'm stillin normal processing times because singapore is listed as being 20 months, even though most people get it in 3-8 months these days.

I will update you on what the MP is able to get from the visa office.

My MP's office policy is that they will not make an inquiry until your file is six months past the normal processing period. We are a couple of months past the normal processing period and the embassy does not respond to our requests for updates and the MP won't help so its frustrating.

We called our local MP's office (Peter Kent - Thornhill) and they were very helpful. They did not actually help the application along in anyway but they were able to explain where exactly the application was, what further processes were required and also advise on more accurate time lines. I am very grateful to Stephen at their office.

Interestingly enough I never even considered voting Conservative until this interaction occurred! ;)

Yes. We filled in the form when we needed help from MP's office.
