Hi Jayf,

Thanks for sharing the above information. I have a question regarding IELTS though, is it only about Listening and Speaking for Quebec? Reading, Writing and total band don't count here? and what is the minimum score for Speaking and Listening to get the maximum score for English proficiency (6)?

I am also taking the TEFaQ next month, got a couple weeks to prepare. I have done the very beginner course last year but still need to get the sense of it back and work intensively on more specific scenarios!

FYI: My husband and I received our TEFaQ results exactly 4wks after we took the test.

So it seems 4wks is the standard amount of time to receive TEFaQ results.

Hi dawoud... just in case jayf doesn't come back... I can answer your question about the IELTS.

I have not yet taken it, but I know that Québec only awards point for listening and speaking skills in English. The rest of the test does not matter.

I don't know why I can't find this again, but before, I found an official pdf which showed the breakdown of points, including what you need to score on the IELTS in order to be considered "advanced" in English. I recently read that you need a 7.5 for each skill, but I don't know if that is a reliable bit of information.

Thanks beth_ma, thats useful bit of information! yet if you came across that official file again it would great if you could share!
according to the online free assessment wizard, I do meet the requirements. still I dont know what is a safe enough region one should submit the application with! any ideas on that?

Best

Hi dawoud,

Assuming that you fall into one of the groups which can submit applications now (as opposed to after March 2013) I would think it would be safe to submit your application. I'm using that online tool to make my decision, too.
