Hello All,

I'm new to this site and to the sponsorship experience. Just wondering if the timeline listed on the govt website is accurate. Has anyone been successful in receiving their PR or getting their spouse here faster than expected? We've just completed the first part which was my approval to be a sponsor. That was completed in half the time that the site says... So... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ;)

Many of my American friends are approved in 7-8 months versus 12/13 as listed on the website.

If you applied in January and would like to join our spreadsheet, let me know. The link is in my signature.

My wife was approved to sponsor me in about the same time as the website said, however I got my passport request at about the point we were expecting to hear that they had started processing my application. I should have my COPR in 3-4 weeks, so I'll be well ahead of the website's schedule :)

the time posted for each VO on the website is the time to complete 80% of the applications, it's not an average.... so if you have a straightforward case, you'll most likely be done before the time posted on the website.
GOod luck,
Sweden

Thanks for the info. I did apply in January so I don't mind being added to the sheet. I tried PMing you and an error keeps occuring. Maybe you could try msging me and I'll reply?

I think you need a certain number of posts before you can PM

Exactly. It's not an "average". If the time on CIC shows 12 months, the technical way to explain this is "80% of cases were completed in 12 months or less". So the CIC time is kind of a worst-case scenario of the 80%, not the average. Most people will get the "or less" time. Why they can't just put a simple average... i have no idea!

You can't PM until you get 10 posts. :)

You can also post your timeline here or in the January 2013 Outland thread. You can also join us there and meet some of the other January applicants.

ours is taking alot much longer than expected...i,m going through the Canadian embassy in Manila...it was 9 months when we first applied and now to 12 months... most of the applications medicals are going to expire so we will have to start all over again....I paid the 1040.00 in advance saying it would be shorter to approve to bring my wife to Canada from Manila.... our wedding ann is May 7/13... We have done nothing but wait for gov,t crap... and I have spent over 40.000 dollars so far....and I still to this day do not even know if our application is at the embassy.....its still in process time... so I was told not to ask....stage 1 is fast its stage 2 that is the killer!!!!....

Our average was 11 months, we got it in 7.

Our average is (last I checked) 16 now. When we were applying it was 11 months. Hubby landed in Jan. So from March to Jan is 10 months.
