I thought EI can be claimed only by PR holders or citizens. I am currently on BOWP, yet to find a job as my contract ended here. I came through an Indian company and they dont have any opportunity for me here so they want me to return to India. But I wish to stay here and search for job. In this case am I eligible for EI?

Thanks for this. But I would really like to know employer asking us to leave the country and join the company in home country would make one eligible for EI. Because in this case we are jobless in Canada but we do have a job in home country. Hope somebody can clarify this.

It sounds like you would have to resign from your present employer if they have offered you work in your home country. Rules around collecting EI are different if you quit. Read the link given. You must prove that you are ready and able to work. If you need to obtain an LMO and work permit, I don't know whether that meets the requirements.
