So, hubby is now on spousal open work permit and he got admission from a univ. The program starts in Sept. He applied online for an SP in June and still now news yet. We just called IRCC call center and they told us he is under the category "SP extension" so it takes longer than applying for a new SP. I am just afraid that he can't get the SP on time for the Sept orientation.
He did have an SP but it expired long ago (then changed status to work permit). Having said that, can he study if he's extending an SP? In my own experience I can study while waiting for an extension decision. But it seems very strange in his case. After all his SP expired so long ago, and he cannot study on work permit.
