The only possible reason my inexperienced self can think of about your delay would be perhaps you start in January and the embassy might be prioritising visas of applicants who have applied for September. But even then you applied way ahead of your time. I would think September would be your lucky month as soon as the backlog of fall people is cleared. Good luck
