Anybody applied OCI from India being on Tourist Visa?

Hello Folks,

We are Canadian citizens and have surrendered our Indian passport, for which we got the SCs a month ago. We plan to visit India on an e-visa for a couple of months with our newborn. So, we were thinking of applying to OCI in India (Hyderabad) if they allow us to do so.

I have checked the OCI website, and it says that foreign nationals are not allowed to apply for OCI being on e-Visa.

So, did anybody go through this process?

You can apply for OCI if you are on entry visa and only after living in India for 6 months.
