It may take up to 2 months and nothing to worry about if your visa will expire you will still remain legal (implied status). Once a person makes an extension to stay application the person can stay in Canada until cic finalize the application.

say if the 6 months stay expired on feb 24th. have applied for TRV extension, the person will leave canada on March 7th, but she will not receive anything back from CIC due to the current processing time about 2months. can she still be back into canada in March 15th?
urgent!!!!!!

if a person applies for an extension he is not required/asked to leave the country until cic makes a decision on his extension application. he can stay in canada. generally if the person has applied to extend his stay as a visitor and he leaves the country the visitor record (document the applicant get on the approval of the extension) will be considered void.
assume he left without knowing the outcome/result of the extension he will only be allowed to enter into canada if he has a visa (multiple entry) and if the immigration officer (CBSA) is convinced that he is a genuine visitor seeking entry.
