Hi

I'm in a process of surveying the best route to follow from Malaysia to Halifax and it seems that I have to land in Toronto first before going to halifax following route Malaysia-Hong Kong-Toronto-Halifax. My questions are :

1. Is 4h 55 min connecting time enough to do the landing?
2. Do I have to take my luggage out for landing process and check it in again ?
3. Someone mention about different terminal between international and domestic but i'm not so sure about that. Does that mean that I have to change terminal after landing to catch my connecting flight?

I really hope that someone can share their experience landing in Toronto and have a connecting flight to catch. It will determine my decision on which air route to follow. Thank you in advance.

It's more than enough.

You're first gonna go through the officer, and after that you can pick up your luggages and check them back in for the domestic portion of your trip.

Yeah, but it's a walk within the same airport/building.

Thank you for your reply. :)

I agree with MiriamT if and only if your flight arrived on time

You need one hour to check in the local flight. The immigration and customes processes may take 2 hours.
another 30 min is needed after the arrival to get your luggage.

4 hours are enough in my opinion. So, you have only 55 min. buffer time in case any delays happened to the flight arrival.

Wish you an easy and safe landing

Thank you so much. I hope there's no delay but you never know right.
So first after going thru immigration, I have to get my luggages and go to CBSA..then check in again for flight to halifax right?

CBSA first, then luggages.

I have a connecting flight in Halifax to Calgary. It's all in one ticket and I don't have to check in my luggage or anything but I'm just wondering now, would I have to deal with migration officers in Halifax or my destination Calgary?

if you are coming from an international flight to halifax, then you will have to go through immigration. you will probably be required to collect your baggage as you need to go through customs. you won't have to check in your luggage from halifax to calgary, just drop them off at the counter.

dammit. It's only 2 hours of wait until my connecting flight departs, do you think that will be enough time? And maybe you know how the insurance will work? Like if my landing province has anything to do with my province of destination when obtaining a health card? (cause I'll be registering in Alberta)

2 hrs, i dont know. depends on the traffic. but many airlines stop taking baggages with 45 mins of take off. your immigration will take 30 mins. hopefully your bags will be there by then. so you can just collect, pass through customs and go straight to the domestic drop off.

nope landing on takes care of immigration and customs. alberta will take care of your residential stuff, like health care and drivers license etc. you will need to update them if you move to another province.

Ok it's 2:50 hours, I've just checked. So it sounds like that should be enough I guess? Does halifax usually get huge traffics maybe you've heard?
