Any Canadian working remotely from Canada for US on H1b?

Hi,

Wanted to check if any Canadian worked remotely from Canada for US company on H1b?
Is there any maximum time period for which you can stay out of US? Or any issues in crossing border after 2-3 months.

i just got my h1b and my spouse has h4. We plan to enter US and apply his ead and come back to Canada. I can work remotely from Canada. And we move fully to US when my spouse’s ead gets approved. So want to know if someone tried a similar approach.

one of my friend stays in Windsor while working remotely for a US company so that he can maintain both his PR and H1B status. As far as I know, he goes to Detroit twice a week to maintain H1 and he returns the same evening to Windsor to maintain PR status. He has been doing that since 1.5 years and so far no issues with either his H1 or PR. But it’s important that your US employer submits a H1 amendment stating that your work location is Detroit.
