Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hello mates,

I hold 3 years post graduate open work-permit after my studying petroleum engineering technologist. However, I can't get a job in the petroleum industry.

My question is: what are the best job titles that I can work now which will help me in the future to apply for PR under CEC, PNP or FSW?

Regards,

If you apply under CEC with studies + work experience or you apply under PNP sponsored by an employer or you apply under FSW with a job offer, all you need is a job that is considered skilled. In order to see if a job is considered skilled, try to look for it here: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2011/SearchKeyword.aspx

If the job duties and title do not match your job, the duties are actually more important.

Each job on there has a 4 digit code.

All codes starting with 0 are management positions and are of skill type 0, for example 0211 and 0631

When the code does not start with 0, you look at the 2nd digit. If the 2nd digit is 0 or 1, it is a skill level A job. If the 2nd digit is 2 or 3, it is a skill level B job. For example: A: 4021 and 2145 and B: 2253 and 7331

If the code does not start with 0 and the 2nd digit is not 0,1,2 or 3, then it is a low or semi skilled job and not good for immigration.

For example, if you get a job working as a draftsman which I am sure you are more than qualified to do, you would be under code 2253 and would be skilled. However, if you get a job as a salesman, even though you may wear a suit to work, you would most likely be under code 6421 and would not be skilled.

Leon, if I worked in different types of skilled work jobs, for example, 4 months in 1204 and 8 months in 2310 ..... is it accumulative when they count the months?

Yes, for CEC you can have more than one job during that period but you must have at least 12 months full time work. If you work 2 jobs at the same time, they will not let you apply after 6 :) If you work part time however or have a break between jobs you just add a bit of time, say if you complete 12 months full time work in 18 months, that is also fine. You have 2 years to get it done.
