Firstly, sorry if this has been covered before but I was hoping for a more definitive and up-to date answer.

I am wondering about my entitlement to live and work in Canada. I was born in 1984 in the UK. My grandparents were both Canadian citizens but lived in the UK since 1951 till their passing. My father was born in the UK in 1952 and has never lived in Canada. He had a old born abroad Canadian birth certificate. In 2010 he applied for his Canadian citizenship and obtained it and now holds a Canadian passport. I have been told I have no entitlement which I struggle to accept. Hopefully this provides enough details to provide some direction on my entitlement to live and work in Canada.

Thanks

Ed

Only your father is entitled to Canadian citizenship. You are not since you are the second generation born abroad.

I ran your supplied information through the citizenship checker at https://na1.se.voxco.com/SE/56/amicanadiansuisjecanadien/?lang=en&tui=auto and the result is negative. However, you should probably go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp to formally apply for confirmation of your status.
