I'm an American, married to a Canadian. I can't seem to get any information from Ottawa about my application. My stats are:

Application Rec - October 2011
Medical Received - October 2011
Wife approved for sponsor - Feb 2012
Application trans to Ottawa - June/July 2012
Began processing my application - May 2012
Still in process

I'm getting frustrated at the lack of information on the website regarding my application. Currently visiting. We are married, no kids, no criminal record, no additional documents requested. I went to Fletcher's office back in October 2012 and they made some calls for me - they were told that my application was in the finalization stage. Now it is almost December and I still have had no change, no information, nothing.

Anyone have any guidance with regard to my situation? Anyone else start their process in October 2011 and still waiting? What gives? Any advice/information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey WestyC1,

Sorry to hear that you have been waiting that long. There is another case, who posted today, similar to yours. Applied in September and still waiting to hear...

I am not sure what is going on with your case ( I don't work for CIC obviously), but a few things...
Your file might have been delayed because of the closure of Buffalo office. Files were transferred to Ottawa and normally kept in order but who knows.... might not be the case. It's strange that you have stayed in process for so long.

You could try ordering your GCMS notes, to see where they are in your file, and what is going on. It will give you detailed information about the assessment the VO has made of your file, and you might get a better view on what is going on. You could also try contacting your MP (well your wife's MP) and they can make an enquiry - some MPs are more willing to do it than others.

Have you tried contacting the VO and sending a "case specific enquiry"?

These are the 3 things I could think of in your situation, I hope it helps, but more so - I hope you get your PR soon.
Good luck,

I know it sucks, but it looks like all of us that were caught up in the Buffalo closure were swept under the rug. It looks like they are just now figuring out that we even exist. I was told my application was being finalized in March 2012, but I didn't get ppr until this Monday.

I am not sure if it helped me or not, but I did order my GCMS notes by email last month, then 2 weeks ago sent an inquiry to Ottawa with them attached and stated that my case was waaaaay over the processing time, and per the GCMS notes, all of the checks and processing were complete, and what was holding things up. It might have been a coincidence, but I did get my ppr.
