Hi, Fellow forum members and experts,

A brief background about me:
  • Completed a 2 year Masters Degree in Canada
  • Working on a Post graduate Work Permit (No LMO required type Open work Permit allowing to work for any Canadian employer)
  • 2 months since I started working as an IT analyst in a Canadian company after my graduation. (NOC 2171. I guess I would fall in the 'A' category out of O,A and B)
  • Have close to 4 years previous experience work experience as an IT analyst (Non Canadian Experience)

Now here is my situation:

For Canadian Experience Class: I am eligible for the Canadian Experience Class after 10 more months (12 months of experience needed for this - 2 months in, 10 more to go)
The problem here is I got to wait for 10 more months and only then can I apply for my PR under this category. Also CIC has now reduced the cap to 8000 >:(.

For Federal Skilled worker Category: My job classification (2171) is there on the new list but again there is this problem of a cap of 1000 for each job category. Based on past trends, my job category is the fastest to reach its cap. I am yet to give my IELTS (No dates in the near future) and by the time I get the results, fill my application and send it to CIC, I am afraid it would be too late :o. I have the relevant work experience (Close to 4 years, not counting the 2 months of Canadian experience). I have a permanent full time job (my current job) but I am not sure if this would be counted as an Arranged Employment, purely because I was hired based an open job call advertised on the company website and I am pretty sure the employer didn't have to obtain positive LMO from HRSDC to hire me, since I have an open work permit.

Someone please tell me if I can avail the benefit of applying with an Arranged Employment Offer for FSWP (No Caps/Limits for this :)) and if the AEO points could be added up to meet up my pass mark so that I can apply under this category after I get my IELTS score? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

As you are on PGWP which is LMO exempt, your employer must obtain a LMO for you to apply under arranged employment.

See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp?expand=arranged#arranged

OR
are working in Canada in a job that is exempt from a Labour Market Opinion, but not under an international or federal-provincial agreement, and an employer has made you a permanent job offer based on you being accepted as a skilled worker, (PGWP is not under an Agreement)

AND
The employer has a positive Labour Market Opinion from HRSDC.

Thank you PMM :). So in that case, I guess my best bet is to wait and apply under the Canadian Experience Class.
