Hello,

Could somebody please advise whether I would be eligible for a Canadian passport?

I was born in Canada in 1985 and moved to England when I was 3. Although my parents are British, they lived in Canada over eight years and both gained official citizenship.

Because they are Canadian citizens and I was born there, does this make me Canadian?

Thank you so much,
Nicola

Yes - you're Canadian by virtue of being born in Canada.

Thank you very much for your swift response.

Could you best advise where I go from here? Is it true I need to obtain my citizenship card before I proceed with my passport application?

Thanks,
Nicola

No, your Canadian birth certificate is sufficient.

Go on the Canadian website and fill out the form to get yourself a Canadian passport.Your Canadian by birth. You can also have a British passport too . Duel citizenship.

Contacting the High Commission of Canada in London and going on there website will also be helpful. You should be able to apply for a Canadian passport through them.
