Hi

Sorry for reposting.

I would be applying in 2016 and have the following questions:

In IMM5768E, question 8, it says enter minimum necessary income. The question is the MNI for which year? Since I am applying in 2016, hence MNI's will need to be shown for 2012-2013-2014. The worry that I have is that for the year of 2012, my income just crossed the income required for 2 people which was $36,637 and my income was $37000.

Does this mean I am ineligible because it says in question 9 that the income needs to be more than the income in question 8 and question 8 MNI for 2014 is $38,272 and my income for 2012 was $37000.

Thanks for reading and hope someone can reply.

Are u sponsoring your spouse under family class? If so there is no minimum income requirement.

this may be about parent sponsorship.

Q. I want to sponsor my wife, but my annual income falls below the required level set out in the LICO chart. What can I do?

A. When it comes to a spousal sponsorship, the rules are more flexible. If your income falls below LICO the sponsorship will still be accepted as long as you are not collecting social assistance.

If you are applying in 2016:

Federal Income Table for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship
Size of
Family
Min Income
2014
Min Income
2013
Min Income
2012
2 38,272 37,708 36,637

If your

-2012 income is greater than 36,637
-2013 income is greater than 37,708
-2014 income is greater than 38,272

you will be eligible to sponsor.

Yes, and this is under the big assumption that you are single/no spouse/no dependent kids in Canada, and that your mom is also single. So that would be family size of 2 (only you + mom). Any other family members would increase your required family size and income requirement.

Thanks Rob_TO for additional information:

Further to that:

"Your Minimum Necessary Income must meet or exceed the Federal Income Table for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship above on the date on which the sponsorship application is signed until the day your family members are permanent residents.

Income may be reassessed at any time during processing if new information indicates that you may no longer meet the minimum income requirements or if more than 12 months have passed between the dates on which we receive your application and when processing of the application begins"

Thanks a lot guys. I should be okay now for the income requirement unless CIC comes out with a huge number all of a sudden. For 2012 the issue was that I had just started my new job after finishing school.

What threw me off was the wording in the form where in question 8 it asks for the "Minimum necessary income" and then in question 9 it says "If this amount is less than the amount of the minimum necessary income above, you do not meet the sponsorship eligibility requirements. Do not send your application."

I was confused as to where are they checking the minimum income from, question 8 or MNI for each year which you mentioned is as follows. As for family structure, I don't plan on getting married anytime soon anyways.

-2012 income is greater than 36,637
-2013 income is greater than 37,708
-2014 income is greater than 38,272

Thanks for all your help.
