My father was born in Chicoutimi, QC in 1944 and lived in Canada until his parents emigrated to the United States in I believe the 60's. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States but never formally renounced his Canada Citizenship. I myself was born in the United States and have been interested in finding out if I am eligible for Canadian citizenship being the first generation born outside of Canada.

You should be able to find a consulate or embassy you can ask. Check here for one near you: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/washington/offices-bureaux/index.aspx If they think you are probably a citizen or even if they don't, you can still try to apply for a citizenship card, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof-how.asp
