Was looking at some posts about getting the kids into a school and people kept talking about a school transfer certificate. So i went to ask at the kids school when i picked them up and they don't have a clue what that is. They said they can send the school reports with me and if i need to take anything else just to ask. What do i need to take with me ahhhh lol.
Any help would be great thanks :)

Not sure where you are moving, but in Ontario the things they'll need or like to see when enrolling children in school are 1) birth and residency papers (showing legal residency status and address in the school district) 2) immunization records and 3) some sort of school records/report cards (this isn't necessary, but they like to see where the child is coming from to ensure consistient placement..)

the first two are musts, but as for anything else, it's essentially helpful information for a teacher... placement is typically to an age appropriate class and any catchup/advance learnings are just handled as they go along..

bring what you can get and you should be fine... especially coming from the UK system, they probably won't be too worried that the children will lack anything other than maybe the french (a french tutor/classes may be helpful for other children to adjust better as it's something that is started in grade 3 or 4 i believe (maybe 5?)...

Thanks Chelley that's a big help as we are moving to Ontario.
Just another quick question. Do they have to learn french or is there another option?
Thanks again :)

I believe French is mandatory between grades 4 and 8... after that it can be optionally removed... most schools do not offer any other languages to substitute in highschool, but in the more diverse areas this might have changed somewhat...

my children are only in grades SK and 2, they were schooled in Canada, but i removed them for 7m and put them to school in Jamaica while my husbands paperwork went through (fantastic experience for them).. when we returned to Canada the only paperwork that was required was listed below (this was requested via a form letter which had the requirements for new residents, so it should be applicable to you as well.... the big one is the immunization records... they will harass and eventually remove your child from school without this!)

found this... should help a little :)
