Hi guys,

We applied outland last October, and after lots of delays, based on following the timelines of others and lots of discussions with people from the same visa office, it looks like we're close to being done (estimating 2-5 weeks). The problem is, we did our medical last August 14, so it appears that we'd have to land before August 13, if we got our passport back with the visa. With a month to go, it looks like it's going to be close. Will the Tokyo Office approve us and return our passport even if we have a window of a few days? We're in Toronto, so we could drive to the US border and land with a day's notice. I really hope that they don't ask us to do another medical before issuing us a visa. The extra cost, plus the extra delay would really suck.

Any advice on what can be done?

Thank you.

There's really nothing that can be done I'm afraid. Sometimes the visa office will contact the applicant and ask if they'll be able to travel on time. Other times they just request you redo the medical. Hope you get the first option. Good luck!

Hey there, like mamita told you, you can not do anything except crossing your finger that they won't ask you to do another medical, but I guess theywon't ask for a new one, since y can land in 1 day notice.
good luck

I have heard on another forum that they were issued a visa that expired a couple of weeks after the medical expired. So, I guess sometimes they make an exception. But it's not something you can request. So there's always hope! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ;)

Yeah, I'll be sticking around for a while. If it weren't for this place, I'd be completely lost when we were applying so I'm trying to return the favour.
