Hello everyone,

I have heard that authorities in Canada can refund fees for French classes taken at the the authorized Alliance Francaise schools around the world.
I am not sure if this applies only to the Skilled Workers class or if Family Class applicants are also entitled to this? Does anyone know?
I was told by Alliance Francaise that upon arrival immigrants can get up to 1200CAD refunded but they were not sure if this applies to all immigrant classes.

I appreciate your help!

Hm, interesting (I am applying under spousal sponsorship; will be living in Montreal).

But I guess I cannot include any proof of finished classes since I will be submitting the application just weeks after I begin the 3 month course ("enclose with your Application for a Selection Certificate an attestation relative to either one of the two tests recognized by the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC) for assessing French language knowledge – either a Test d’évaluation du français adapté pour le Québec (TEFaQ) or a Test de connaissance du français pour le Québec (TCFQ).")

I will be at the Alliance Francaise tomorrow and ask them too but I suppose I should have my husband call MICC and ask for the details ...

Still curious if anyone has done this???

Thanks for the link!

The MICC will be more informed for sure. At the AF in Peru, each level is divided into separately paid months. In that case, I THINK that if my husband had received CSQ after he had completed 1 of a 3-month level, he would only be refunded for 2 months that he did when he had the CSQ certificate.

As for your quote about including the results of the French test to receive CSQ, you don't need to worry. Spousal do not need to fulfill any French requirements. And you can get reimbursed even without doing the tests.

Oh, did you see this about how to get reimbursed:

Hope this helps!

My wife has started her classes after receiving the CSQ. In the AF in Medellin, Colombia, the levels are separated by month. This month, she will start her fourth level there... supposedly, you have to ask the AF to fill a paper for her that you need to bring to Québec so you can have the classes reimbursed... I have heard it might take up to one year before they issue the refund...

what up to a year ?? damn.. Once we are done the immigration I don't want to have to deal ever again with the gov....I know wishful thinking....

anyway.. my husband started his classes this week in Lima. He had done some classes back when we first started the process at some university, but had a bad experience then and sort of didn't want to go back... he finally came around it and is now enrolled at l'Alliance Francaise. He says he really likes the classes. They are a small group and seems to be more serious, then one he had enroled in before.
