Med's Done....

Hello,

My partner/sponsor uses a fake surname on Facebook due to her career. We'll be including screenshots of Facebook conversations, check-ins ect. Should we include her 'alias' in the "Application to Sponsor.... form.

Or do you think they'll use common sense and realise?

If not, I'll just include a short paragraph above the first Facebook screenshot explaining...

Yes, you should include any alias or nickname she uses.

Are you sure you need to include the FB stuff? Which VO is or will be processing your application? We didn't include any of that stuff, we only submitted photos (somewhere around 60).

VO - London.

Her Alias isn't known to anyone but her family and closest friends. It's just to stop people searching for her and adding her on Facebook.

I'll add it anyway - no harm in adding it.

Thanks!

It's London but we spent 6 months apart quite early in our relationship so wanted to include evidence of the long distance relationship as I think it's good evidence for the strength of our relationship. And some more evidence we have ticks the 'shows themselves in public' box - she posts social media updates to her business/fan page.

Well, when I called the call centre to ask about it they said cic wants to know about ANY nickname or alias used. We put my wife's fb name on our forms just to be safe

The last thing you need is for CIC to determine that she misrepresented herself by not disclosing her alias. Even though she is the sponsor, I suggest she include the alias. Perhaps it's a bigger issue for the applicant, but...here's what the guide shows:

From Guide 3900:

Question 2

Nickname/Alias

Check the box to indicate if you ever used any other name. This could include your birth name, maiden name, married name, nickname, etc.

If you checked “Yes”, indicate any other family name(s) that you have ever used.

If you checked “Yes”, indicate any other given name(s) (first, second, or more) that you have ever used.

Notice how it doesn't say anything about where the alias was used, which would certainly seem to include something as simple as FB.

Is it really worth the risk? Besides...why would it even be a problem for CIC to know this information?

Thank you very much.

Totally agree, knowing that, why wouldn't I provide it. It's not going to delay anything and I don't need to provide additional forms ect.

Thanks for your help :)
