Hi everybody,

Just want to know if someone gets PR in Canada. Can he/she gets USA visa easily if wants to visit parents/sister in USA who are already US citizens.
Your comments are most welcome.

Thanks

Thanks Ash_1967.

I guess only Canadians having citizenship or Canadian Passport are eligible to enter USA. PR (permanent resident) who are still waiting for citizenship need visa to enter USA.

Anyone here who can shed some light please

PR status allows you to enter US as often as you please

YES you can enter and exit USA by road as many times as you may wish. If I remember correctly, air travel has some restrictions. My brother in Toronto kept visiting New York on PR and before he became citizen (got his passport).

If you needed a visa to the US before you got PR, you will still need it afterwards. However, it will probably be easier to get a visit visa in the US if you are PR of Canada and have a job in Canada so they would not see you as a risk of overstaying.

Manj, I think (heard from friends) people who got PR in previous immigration process were used to go to USA only after showing PR card. But now US authorities have restricted it and only allow if you have a valid visa for US.

US is a free port for Canadian Citizens only and else you need to have a valid visa to travel to US.
