My husband was interviewed in Costa Rica almost two weeks ago. The interviewer told him he had been approved but he needed to get an updated medical. We were able to get it back to the embassy the next day. The immigration officer placed it in his file to take back to Mexico. She stated we would receive an email in a week but we have yet to receive anything. Status online stated his application is now being processed.
Does anyone know how long now?
Will they ask him to submit his passport?
Will it be sent to Mexico or processed in Costa Rica?
How long does it take from here?

Please help.

I don't know any answers to your questions but I am glad to hear that you are approved as my husband as well is from Costa Rica. We will send in our application this week if everything that I'm waiting for comes in the mail.

From this forum I know that each step takes much longer than we ever think that it should. If you are both in Costa Rica, enjoy your time on the beach because likely you will be in canada within a few months!

I would be interested to talk more with you about your situation, and how the process went for you. You are the first that I've seen on this forum also coming from Costa Rica.

We actually applied when we both lived in the states. He is now in Costa Rica and I am in Canada. We sent on our application last April. His interview was March 4th. If you do have any questions please feel few to ask. Not having answers is the worst.

I think actually that your first post answered my biggest question about where will the interview take place if one is requested. I also don't like the idea of mailing The passport all the way to Mexico, so I'm hoping to hear that when you get your PPR that it will tell you to send it to the embassy in SJ. Keep me updated! I'm so happy for you guys!

We received the passport request and passports are sent to Mexico. You prepay for the return. It arrived in Mexico Friday afternoon. Hopefully it will not be long for the return.

Hey guys it seems like you are sponsored or sposoring someone in C.R so I wanted to ask you about the translator, did you find a certified translator, if so is it expensive??

My husband is also Costa Rican. He landed last october. We sent his passport to Mexico via Dhl when they requested it. And mexico embassy also asked for a prepaid airway bill to return the passport to costa rica

you're looking for a translator located in Costa Rica? I just used my lawyer who sub contracted the translating to his guy and then they signed an affidavit. I'll let you know if they send it back to me, but I looked up the rules and I'm sure I did it right. I had to get one thing translated in Canada though and I used www.saskatchewanta.ca they were really fast and really good. they're located in Manitoba and you just scan your papers that need to be translated and upload them to the online order form they have set up on their website. Super easy, then they e-mail you back with the cost and you can pay online too. I had my document the very next day. I wish I had done all of my documents through them. They even sent me instructions on what to do next and CIC's expected standards when it comes to translation of documents. They went above and beyond my expectations.

The only thing we translated was police check, and birth certificate. In Costa Rica translating police check was $25 and done in 5 minutes.

Yup I had my marriage certificate as well because we got married in CR. Cost was similar for me.

The Canadian company cost double.
