I have seen two types of threads.

some say they send in their passport and are waiting for it to come back. Others have said that they entered Canada with their acceptance letter and the customs officer processed the Visa on the passport at the border.

I am a US citizen and will be moving by land with my car and belongings when I am approved. Do I really need to send my passport in to Ottawa just to get it back and cross the border into Ottawa (where I am moving). This seems silly. I am in NYC BTW... only 6 hours away.

Any US citizens out there that have already been approved and moved, could you share your story?

Thank You!

Any country that is visitor visa exempt doesn't send in their passport. They just have to receive the COPR paper.

The people you see sending in their passports are from countries where they require a visitor visa to enter the country.

Thank You - Now that you answered me it makes total sense. I should have figured that one out on my own!... All the stress of putting this application together and waiting is making clouding my mind!

No problem. Good luck with the wait.

For us citizens, if you get a ppr, you just send a copy of the bio page. This is to ensure the info is still the same. There are quite a few Ottawa applicants who did not get ppr and just went to in process and decision made.
