After application and request to forward passport is issued, can one forward a new passport

Upon request to forward my passport for stamping, I discovered that a visa will not be issued beyond the validity date of my passport. My study duration is to 2024 while my passport expires 2021. Can I quickly renew my passport and forward a passport that was not what I used to process my application. Does this have any implication

You can do that or you can apply for the new passport later and then apply for an extension in 2021.
