Hi All,

Thanks for everyone in this forum, who helped me all the way for doubts and for all of us, finally I have received a letter from CH London request for Passport(s). But still not finish yet until I get the Visa(s). But the e-CAS status still in "IN PROCESS"

Please pray for me to go through the final stage smoothly.

Regards,

Guys and Gals,

I got one question about Surname - My wife took her passport before we get married, in her bio data page it appears her Father's name as a Surname but later we have alterated to my name but which appears on the alteration page on the passport.

Passport request letter had mentioned bio data page's details should match with the form which they sent (which we have to fill when we submitting passports)

All the other visa's such as UK, Thailand they have took my name as a surname as have we filled the applications like that.

What shall I do, go for my Surname (which is on the alteration page of the Passport) or

Shall I fill her Father's name which is on the bio data page

Please advise....

Thanks,

The alteration is considered as a current one and it is valid as in the main bio-data page. So you can give the new surname, there should not be a issue. For safer side you can write an explanation letter attached.

I agree with thayibb, send copies of both the pages(original & page with alteration) and write a letter explaining what happened, I am sure there should not be any issues.

You should go and first get the visa stamped, this is all speculation and only create confusion. Since everything is legal, you are not going to have any issues.

Good Luck!

I myself have to add surname for my daughters and spouse. I thought of doing it after I get through the passport stamping stage. I don't want this to cause any delay in the process. Changing name is legal as far as you have all the proof of both the identity and follow the process, like court affidavit, notification in the news paper etc. For change of surname after marriage is very common, you just need to have your marriage certificate.

New yorker and Thayyib, appreciate your comments. I have sent the passports this morning by recorded post with an explanation letter about the Surname change.

Hoping everything's going to be all right. Almighty helped me all the way through I'm sure this is going to be fine as well.

Regards,

Congrats. If mine was 3 years or even 6 years of waiting, I would have been happy. Mine was medical after 8 yrs.
