Hi All!

For all translated documents in English / French I found out in CIC guide lines that an affidavit from a translator is also required that he has the authority to translate these documents. Has anyone provided that affidavit??

i have translated my documents from islamabad / pakistan and he has not given me any affidavit but a certificate that

"he has the authority to translate these documents and he has made this solemn declaration beleiving it to be true and knowing it is of the same force and effect as if made under oath.

declared before me at the city / town of islamabad in the federal area of ict and country of pakistan"

I then attested this certificate from notary public

Please provide your kind feed back

Thanks All...

Dear xyz123,

I have not heard such thing.

Translation of documents
Any document that is not in English or French must be accompanied by:

• the English or French translation; and

• an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and

• a certified copy of the document.

Note:
An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the translator is living, that the contents of their translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document.

Translations by family members are not acceptable.

Ask the person to prepare "Affidavit" for same.

I dont think there will be a problem for him to prepare the affidavit.

any more inputs???

in my case, I did NOT provide any kinds of certificates or anything.

in my paper during the notorization, there were 2 stamps,
1 gives "this is the true copy of the original", name, signature, date, title, date of expiry, etc
2 gives name, title, date of expiry, etc.

i think there is no need of other certificates.

Done the translation from Karachi, and got the same affidavit, as you mentioned, on translator's letter head, and notarised it, it think this should be sufficient.

hi humsafar!

one guy from faisalabad has told me in other thread that he got the affidavit on 20 rupees stamp paper. this is the format

"Sample Translator's Affidavit (on Rs. 20 Stamp Paper)

I, Imran Ahmad, the translator of the flowing documents, solemnly declare that the contents of these documents are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original documents, and that nothing is omitted or added in the translation.

Documents Translated:

1. Marriage Certificate(Nikah Nama) of ABC
2. National Identity Card of XYZ (Principal Applicant)
3. National Identity Card of XYZ2 (Spouse)

Oath taken by me in presence of the Oath Commissioner.

Date: ___________________

Imran Ahmad
(Translator)"

I am thinking of going to my translaotor tomorrow and ask him to issue me such affidavit on stamp paper. i know he is not gonna do but i will offer him some money. lets see
