Hello all,

I've talked to a couple of lawyers here in Vancouver and it seems the easiest way for me to get residency here is to apply under the AEO scheme. One quick question though: I understand the work categories the programme falls under but what is unclear is exactly how much work experience is needed? Is it true that only 1 yrs continuous work experience is required? I have about 1 and a half yrs experience as a business analyst. Thanks in advance all :)

One year of work experience in the past 10 years is a minimum requirement to apply under FSW. If you have an AEO, you do not need to worry if your work experience is in the list. However, you still need to score 67 points under FSW.

I am not an expert.

Good luck

Hi V,

Thanks for the response. I score 88 on the self-assessment test and have 1 and a half years experience as a business analyst (over a 2 job period with one of them being continuous for a year). So just to clarify, I am correct that even though my job does not fall under the 38 occupations, I do qualify for an AEO application on the above information?

I believe you do. The 38 occupations are for another category, one where you do not need a job offer.

However, if I were you i would consult with an an immigration attorney or consultant. You can go to www.canadavisa.com and see how you can speak to one of their staff on the phone for free. I do not work for them and I am not advertising for them, but from my experience they do have a good team.

Good luck
