Hi

I have following question.

I got nomination from ontario PNP. I am applying for PR now but getting married in july 2015. I also want to bring my wife with me.

What should I do so that I bring my wife with me.

Any source you can direct me to for guaranteed answer?

Thank you

If you get a passport request before you get married, you should not send your passport but ask them to hold off because you are getting married in July and will be adding your wife to your application. That is unless you get the passport request so early that you believe that you will be able to land before you get married and prefer to do that and sponsor your wife later. However, if you do that, you may be separated from your wife for some time as you as a PR must be residing in Canada in order to sponsor her and if she is not visa exempt and can not get a visit visa to come with you, she will have to stay outside Canada while you wait for the sponsorship to go through.

If you still don't have a passport request by the time you get married, you should notify them when you do.

In order to add your wife, go through all the application forms again and re-do all the forms that will have changed because your wife is included as well as have her fill out all the forms she should have filled out. Once you have the marriage certificate, send the whole package to the visa office with a cover letter stating that you have gotten married and are adding your wife to your application.

leon is right you can add your dependent (your spouse) any time during the process before you get your PR. when you get married include her in your application by sending cic the proof of your relationship (your case wont face any reset or like starting from the beginning) it will just addup a little processing time (her security and background check, medical exam etc).

If you decide not to include her in your application (when PR application is still in process)still you have to notify cic about your wedding and have to send your wife information(marriage certificate, her id, cic forms etc) to cic. otherwise you may not be able to sponsor her in future and it might be consider as a misrepresentation as you did not declared her before getting your PR.lying about your status by landing as a single person when you are actually married.CIC will find out about this misrepresentation when you will sponsor her in future and on this cic even have the right to revoke your PR status.

if you add her in your application after getting married( and before getting the final passport request). you will just need to update your new information send few forms, her documents, upfront medical, her processing fee and you are good to go..ending with two PR cards and you both in canada living happly. :)

True, if you get your visa as a single person before having gotten married, you may not get married and then land on that visa. You would have two options, either land before getting married, then sponsor your wife after the fact or send the visa back to the visa office and add your wife and get visas for your both.

If you land on a visa you got as a single person after having gotten married, you will be seen as having committed misrepresentation by not informing them of your wife and adding her before landing. When this comes out, for example when you try to sponsor your wife, your PR could get revoked and in any case, you would never be allowed to sponsor your wife even if you were allowed to keep your PR.
