My boyfriend and I have been living together in BC now for 5 months.
(My student visa says Oct, but we didn't start living together until December.)
He is naturally born Canadian.
I know he needs to become a sponsor first.
Here are my questions..

1.Can he apply to become a sponsor before Dec?
2.If we're denied common-law. Can we just get married and re apply the marriage way?

We're a little scared.. We have a ton of proof that we're living together.

We live with his parents, but it's in the downstairs that's basically a house below a house..
They're going to draw us up a lease and give us recipes since we are paying rent together.
We are saving all our recipes. Date nights, movies, furniture, Every.Single.Grocery trip.
We have bank accounts (joint) with the status "common-law".
We have the same address with mail in both our names.
On top of all that we have tons of pictures already of us together at Numerous family events and our downstairs has pictures of us as a couple.
We're going to be getting declarations from family AND friends. We're still going to do family even though we know it won't be taking into account since
they'll just throw it out cause 'family will lie for family'.

We also don't know how to mention that we met..
I got here on a study visa, but we technically met online over a dating app called Tinder back in 2014.. we decided to just be friends.. I came to, honestly, randomly visit cause I had some mandatory time off from work and knew about it ahead of time long enough to get my passport and plan out a little trip.
It wasn't until I actually met him that I feel in Love with this guy ;D

Anyways..
Any Advice?
Will this be a problem?

We're applying outland just so I can go see my family in the US while the application is being processed on top of the faster times on top of the fact that we can appeal it..

first things first, common-law stipulates that you need to have lived together for a continuous 12 month period and be able to prove that. If youc an't prove 12 months of cohabitation (rental lease, bills, contracts, mail etc) then you cant apply common-law.

the way you met really doesnt matter, so long as it has develoepd into a genuine and real relationship.

you need to wait to apply for the common-law app. getting married would mean you can apply immediately for the spousal stream, but it will raise a red flag on your application if you got married after 5 months of physically meeting which will make the IO question the legitimacy of your marriage. Did you get married because you love each other, or so you could apply for PR?

Give us some more inforation, such as where you are from, your age and what you are currently doing in Canada - when does your visa expire. there may be other options for you, but common-law is out of the question as you havent been living together for 1 continuous year.

I'm 22, from California (born and raised) moved to Washington for a year and a half where we were close enough to meet.
Reasons for moving to Washington was to get away from home, transferred up there with work, friends, and attended college were I furthered my degree.
Currently going to University of Victoria
I work two jobs too.. Legally I will add.
He is 23 and Works as well.

*Study Visa ends May of 2019.

In December 2016, we will have been living together under the same roof for 12 consecutive months.

Thank you for your speedy response.

You will only be able to apply starting the day you are officially common law, December 2016. All of your options seem like good proof. Don't worry about getting rejected, if they have doubts they will always contact you and ask for more proof or schedule an interview, they wouldn't just outright reject you. Good luck :)

Alright all sounds good. Just wait until december 2016 then. Only real option. Work on keeping proof together until the time comes. keep photos of trips away in an organised folder, keep travel tickets, get joint bank accounts, get bills mailed to the same address, get a lease drawn up, etc etc. just make sure that your 12 month cohabitation is solid and the rest will be easy.

Keep in mind the sponsorship application and PR application are sent in together. It's really just one application with separate parts. If you send them separately, it would just be returned as incomplete.

And wow, working 2 jobs while going to University? Good for you ;D
