Hi there

Please I have a question. I am a PR and would like my husband to apply for SOWP when he gets to Canada.

The website states that they can come to Canada as a visitor and apply for SOWP after receiving AOR for his PR sponsorship application while living with me.

Since he can’t work or actively look for work as a visitor, can he go back to Nigeria while the SOWP is processing?

When did you apply to sponsor him. Once he has AOR, he can apply. He can apply and return if visa is valid.

He can return. We don't know how long the OWP processing will take place, nor whether leaving the country will have any impact on that (i.e. does IRCC delay OWP for those who leave the country? Probably not, but who knows?).

We haven’t applied yet. We started with the visit visa application. Biometrics were completed Jan 14 so we’re currently waiting for a decision. But the plan is to apply for the OWP as soon as he visits in May. My question is really if he can return to Nigeria to his job while the application is processing then return once we have the SOWP and a job here
