Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and I find it really awesome and helpful resource for new comers (and not only)!

Dear experienced forum members, i would appreciate your help in the following questions:
1.Please advise districts with good neighborhood close to York University (Keele street +5-10 miles around).
2. Is it possible to find a good 1-bedroom flat for rent near York University for 900-1100$ per month? (What are the average prices in that area?)
3. Please advise reliable websites or contacts to rent a flat in Toronto.

Thanks a million, :)
Tanya

I'm very familiar with this area. There are lots of options in your price range around campus. The places I recommend checking out:

1) Village at York (aka University Heights) - Townhouses. Lots of available rentals, but be selective... Since they are townhouses, some people have divided up units into nothing more than rooming houses (no security and little privacy), while others are nice flats, etc. It's definitely not a quiet area with so many students around, but depending on what exactly your comfort level is, you could find a very cheap place here. Also closest to campus. Seriously, the longest walk would 5+ minutes. http://www.villageatyork.ca/ (not much info here, but the only link I can find)

2) http://www.caprent.com/Properties/Ontario/Toronto/Murray_Ross.aspx
10-12 minute walk, maybe less. Nice building. I have personal experience with this one, so I can give you more info if needed.

3) http://www.metcap.com/why_choose_metcapliving/portfolio/toronto/
(scroll down to Toronto North - Maple Grove Towers Community)
12+ minute walk. These are nice buildings too, from what I've been told. Don't have any real details though.

These are closest to the campus, and all reasonably affordable. There is a plaza with a grocery store, medical clinic, etc. just a few minutes walk from these places. Naturally there are places to avoid in this area, but the ones mentioned above are good. If you have questions, feel free to send me a message. :)

Hi,

You don't want to live very close to York, that neighborhood is very rough and btw be carefull when you are around the campus at night. (I actually studied at York)

The best place that you can live and it's relatively close to York,it's Bayview and Sheppard. From Sheppard station there is a bus called Rocket 95B which takes streight to York. You will be fine as long as you are on the subway line. The rent for a bedroom starts from 1250$. Let me know if you want me to assist you with the search,I'm a real estate agent.

Btw,there is a support group on facebook called "Surrogate family". It's a support group for information and resource exchange in everyday life necessities. There is no limit, you can exchange information/enquirers bout job, car, housing, city info, events, babysitting, pet sitting and ....

People are quite helpfull there and you can make freinds.
