Hello freinds,

In a bit of a jam and in need of advice.

My wife was 7 month pregnant in June while we waited for our CORP.
we sent an Email to the visa office in Rome telling them that we are pregnant and asking the status of our Corp.
We did not get an answer from the visa office and recieved our CORP in July when it was allready to late for my wife to fly.
We asked a consultant how should we procced and were told that we can fly with the newborn and arrange sponsorship for him within Canada. we asked her several times was she sure and each time she said yes.
We arrived and were told that we cannot be landed because we did not inform CIC af the new addition.
Make a long story short our pasports and CORP documents were seizured for further examination, we were addmited to Canada and were told to wait for a phone call from CBSA.
It has been a week already and no phone call.

Can anyone tell what to expact or how long CBSA examination takes?

Thank you in advance

It's so sad to hear your case.

There was a similar case on newspaper a few year ago. A couple didn't declare the child and they signed a paper at the border to exclude their child. Until now, a couple could not sponsor their child. http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/adami-parents-wonder-if-their-son-4-will-ever-be-reunited-with-them-in-canada

In addition, when you receive your COPR, it clearly indicated that if you have any changes in your family composition, you should inform CIC. It's hard for you to argue that this is a honest mistake.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. All the best to your family! It's so hard when these things are going south in the last minutes.

Unfortunately you were given bad advice. Per the letter you received along with your COPR, it was mandatory for you to notify CIC of any significant changes to your family composition.

CBSA may take anywhere from a few weeks to even a few months to get back to you. It may be a good idea to get touch with a good immigration lawyer.
