Seniors,

I`m working as a User Support Engineer-NOC 2282, although i do perform
some of the duties of the NOC 2281 which is one of the eligible NOC`s for
FSW2014 (over phone and remote support).
Please advice if i can apply under NOC 2281 or any other options inder which i
may be eligible?

Note: I do have a brother living in British Columbia

Can you provide us a highlight of your duties ? And are you able to get them in a reference letter from your current and/or past employers?

Also why does your signature say NOC 2211 ?

Thanks for responding. Last year i tried to apply with my wife as a primary applicant(did`nt work out) and her
NOC is 2211,hense the same is reflected in my profile. I was able to get a reference letter from my previous employer
and the duties are mentioned as
- Troubleshooting Dell Desktop computer Hardware and Operating System issues
- Assist in installation and troubleshooting of peripherals like printers and internet connectivity
- Assisting customers in setting up home wireless networks using Dell wireless routers
- Assisting customers to fine tune wireless network connectivity and setting up secure networks.
- Assisting in reinstallation of operating system and Microsoft office application suite.
- Mentoring new hires.

Current employer i am unable to get a reference letter with Technical Duties/hours worked as HR say they do not issue such letters (they have given me a working letter). The duties i perform are given below:
- Initial Setup and Configuration of HP EVA, MSA & 3PAR Storage Arrays .
- Troubleshooting on Xeon & Pentium based Servers which includes HP Blade & Proliant
- Installation and configuration of Proliant Network Configuration Utility software
- Evaluate and fix network performance bottlenecks
- Troubleshooting Cisco and Brocade (C and B-Series) SAN Network Switches used for WAN `s
- Troubleshoot Command-view management software issues
- Troubleshooting Continuous Access Issues and assist in disaster recovery
- Upgrading Firmware /Drivers for Storage arrays and servers during change management windows
- Work on Libraries and Autoloader Data Backup issues.
- Maintain incident wise documentation
- Mentor new hires

Your 2nd experience is 2281. Your first experience is more inclined towards 2282 since you've used the term 'assisting customers' a bit too many times.

I would have thought there would be a transition between the 2 roles as you were troubleshooting Desktops in one role and then Installing HP Storage in the other. Obviously this is just my curiosity.

It all boils down to how much experience on an employers letterhead you can show for 2281. The less that is, the weaker your case is gonna get.

Try and get that part sorted.

My current employer have said that as per policy, they can only give my a working certificate, which will
only indicate the period of my employment and the Title. Please confirm if i can write a letter by myself
mentioning the duties and also give my manager`s ID card photo copy attested by him and Notarized?

I will advise you do the following:

- Send an email from your official email ID to the HR requesting for the LOR. Let them come back in the email and state that they are unable to provide so.
- Attach a copy of the email with the Application Package elaborating the circumstance.
- Get a Senior to outline your duties for you on an affidavit. If you can't get anyone - then try to get a colleague to do it.
- If you do get the affidavit make sure you attach their Business Card along-with it.
- If Managers and Colleagues don't work then send a self sworn affidavit (no other choices left).

BTW - what is the total number of points you need from your Work Experience ?
What is your total experience in NOC 2281 ?
Are you able to provide LOR for all the other Companies for this NOC ?

- I am with the present company for over 7 years and previous company for around 4 years (so max points for experience)

- You are absolutely solid on the 4 Years (2282) since you have the LOR for this one.
- The following 7 Years (2281) is open to the VO's discretion since you will not be providing the LOR for that.
- I believe you get points for whichever NOC you have worked on and can provide LOR - which means 13 points for 4 Years are solid.
- Even if 13 points for you is enough you have got be careful of the fact that at the end of the day your NOC Experience will be reviewed to match the duties and responsibilities. This will only be 2281.

My advise to you is that you try and make the case with your existing employer (2281) as solid as possible because your NOC Experience rests entirely on this one Job since there is nothing to fall back on.
