So my wife and I submitted her Outland (but living together) PR towards the end of last year and we're waiting on confirmation from IRCC on acceptance of the application (been less than two weeks since receipt by IRCC).
We both travel to the US (where she is from) to see her family fairly regularly, like every 2 months or so, and the last few times, we have been stopped by CBSA with questioning regarding her status, which has gotten annoying. Since she is a US citizen, she is supposed to be allowed in Canada for up to 6 months and there's yet to be a period where she's stayed more than 3-4 months in Canada with me since she moved up here as she had a ton of events to go to back home (weddings, baby showers, etc). I'm trying to avoid this annoyance on an upcoming trip and wondering if it would be sufficient to take a copy of our Marriage certificate or will the CBSA expect to see the original?
Even the IRCC was surprised when I mentioned our experience during one of my calls with them a while back and they stated that the CBSA really has no reason to hassle us (I agree!). Appreciate any advice from anyone that may have experienced similar issues and how they rectified it while waiting for a PR to come through.
