I am the guardian and conservator of my adult (23 year old) child due to her intellectual disability. She is high functioning and is able to work, though currently not a full work day (she is on American disability). She currently lives in a type of assisted home, but as her caretaker, she would need to follow me in leaving the country. My question is, since I am her guardian, would she count as my "child" in the Canadian immigration process or does she need to apply separately? Which seems like a risk of ending up with two different results. What do I need to know and do for both of us to immigrate together? Thanks for any feedback.

If she is able to work and living separately from you, then you will not be able to include her as your dependent in an immigration application. She would need to qualify on her own through an economic immigration stream like Express Entry which I expect will be difficult for her to do. I'm sorry, I don't see an obvious path that allows her to move to Canada with you. You can try to include her as a dependent. However based on the information you've provided, she most likely doesn't meet the definition. How are you planning on immigrating?
