Hi, Everyone!

I'm applying for the Canadian PR. The PR application has a section to provide the family details which I started doing.

We were recently blessed with a baby(born on 02/04/2021). I did add her to the application however, it is asking for a National ID or Passport. Our newborn only has a birth certificate and the Passport may not be available until a month or two due to the steps involved. Since the baby was born in the USA, her only National ID is a passport.

Any suggestions on how to proceed in this situation?

TIA!

I guess this is a somewhat unique situation, so you may not get experience based answers. If you have enough time to get the passport before your deadline (depends on when you got invited), then you could just wait to submit your form. If not, I would go ahead and raise a webform explaining the situation and asking for guidance.

All the best.

Apply for passport with expedited processing. They are usually very quick (less than 2 weeks). If that is still beyond your submission deadline, then submit the application with a letter of explanation and proof of having applied for passport. This may or may not work. If your score is high enough, then you can also decline the invitation and wait for a new one.
Also note that you will need medical exam for the child.
