Hi,

I applied for PR from outside canada. I’ve received ready for visa email recently asking for passport. I got married while my application was in process. Could you please advise should I be submitting passport or not? What is the correct way of providing information to ircc as now my spouse will be accompanying??? Pleaseee advisee

No, you should not submit your passport.

Since you are now married, it is mandatory that you add your spouse to your application before becoming a PR. You need to notify IRCC that you are married and then go through the process of adding your new spouse to your application. IRCC will then process your spouse's part of the application. Expect this to take 4+ months from the time IRCC receives all of the paperwork (most likely at least six additional months).

Thank you for your quick reply ..is calling them the only way to notify? Coz it’s quite hard to get hold off them

No, you need to send a webform.

alright, I’ve an appointment tomorrow for passport changes after marriage ..can I proceed with that then coz I’m not sure how long will it take for sending me a new passport
